Underground Vision are leading lights in developing the UK’s Laser Profiling system.
“After being heavily involved in designing prototype laser systems in New Zealand before they were introduced in the UK, we are now this country’s specialists in drainage laser technology and the first port of call for contractors across the country”
Anthony Foden & Brad Commins – Directors & Co-Founders
For over forty years CCTV inspection has been used for determining the condition of drains and sewers. Advances in technology and moves to more cost-effective pipework (especially PVC) has seen the introduction of ‘state of the art’ laser, sonar and high definition CCTV profiling systems in the UK.
Underground Vision’s Laser Profiling system offers contractors and their customers significant benefits over traditional CCTV surveys. This new system gives accurate data about the shape, capacity, ovality and deformation. It supplies our engineers with in-depth reports regarding corrosion, debris levels and accurate pipe measurements enabling informed decisions on pipe integrity and rehabilitation programmes.
How Does it Work?
We use the laser to project a profile on to the 360-degree surface of the pipe covering 150mm to over 1.2m in size.
In practice, the laser profiler is attached to the pan and tilt CCTV camera and the general condition survey is undertaken. The system is capable of recording over 16 million measurements per hour and is accurate to within 1mm when measuring diameters, deformation and ovality.
Although detailed software assessments and analysis can be made on site we can also use and analyse the digital back in the office to build our report, which is strongly recomended.
